September 3 Update.docx

September 3, 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, and Community Members,

We would like to thank everyone for their support in our move to Distance Learning. It was a difficult decision to make as we understand the impact it has on families. However, we felt it was necessary for the safety of our students and staff.  Our COVID-19 procedures went smoothly, and we have made a successful transition to Distance Learning. We could not have been this successful without your cooperation and support.

As we shared with you Tuesday, we were alerted to a positive case of COVID-19 within our school community.  We have a few students who are quarantined through September 14th due to contact tracing, and we are getting updates from the Tillman County Health Department as we move forward.

Administration will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend and decide Monday morning whether or not school can safely reopen with normal operations Tuesday.  We will notify everyone of our decision through the all-call system, PTO Facebook, school Twitter account, and student emails.

We would also like to share with you that the Federal Lunch Program has made it possible for school lunches to be served free of cost to all students through December.  The free lunch applies to the grab and go meals served and while we are in regular session.

Sincerely,

James Higdon
Superintendent, Grandfield Public School
